These are unprecedented times. Never could we have imagined that so much could change so quickly and that the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) would become the largest global health crisis in 100 years. Therefore, we have shifted our priorities to respond to two urgent needs: at home, the education of young people who are out of school; and globally, the medical needs of vulnerable people in developing countries. You can read our detailed response here.
A new, digital programming platform, WE Discover is built to incorporate social action exploration into young people's study and learning time in a fun way. Engage your young people with the issue of homelessness using our interactive online modules, and earn points in each to keep motivated along the way.
WE believe that when we act together great change is possible. Today, we must all stand shoulder to shoulder to support those who face injustice and inequality; to seek to share the burden of their pain together, and to work even harder to build inclusive communities where we can come together for the greater good. In this challenging time, we asked long-time WE supporter Martin Luther King III to share his perspective on what’s at stake. As an organisation, we will continue to work with teachers and students to tackle these pressing issues.
Our WE Villages partner communities are among the most vulnerable populations who are at extreme risk from COVID-19. We are working hard to prepare them to curb the spread of the virus. We have a response plan in place, and medical equipment and supplies are already on their way. We’re asking for your support to provide urgent medical care and supplies to health care workers and families.
